Four fluid-filled cavities in the brain all connected with each other. There are two lateral ventricles in the top part of the brain—one on each side—with the third and fourth ventricles in the center of the brain. Obstruction of the connections or the outflow tract leads to swelling (hydrocephalus). Also refers to the chambers in the heart.
